Q What does self-guided mean?
A A self-guided tour is a fully co-ordinated holiday package for the independent traveller. We give you detailed routes to follow, book all the accommodation for you in advance and move your luggage to your new accommodation each day. You decide with whom you would like to walk and it is you who sets your own pace - there is no guide or group to hurry you along or to slow you down. We're sure that once you've experienced self-guided tours, there'll be no going back!

Q How hard are the tours?
A Our tours are to be enjoyed and they're certainly not a race. We want you to enjoy the countryside you're walking through, be amazed at the sights you’ll see and to remember the Dordogne for all of the right reasons. You would generally expect a typical day to consist of four to five hours of walking. The Dordogne and Lot are hilly in parts but the steep routes should offer no more than a moderate degree of difficulty to walkers.

Q How fit do I need to be?
A The tours are aimed at individuals with a basic level of fitness. If you take regular exercise, you shouldn't have any problems. Our longest day of walking is a little over 20kms, but this is not the norm. Should you intend to take one of our tours but have not been exercising regularly, we would recommend that you consult your doctor before considering our activity holidays.

Q What happens if I have a problem?
A Although your tour is self-guided, you are not alone. If there is an emergency, just call us. Remember, we are based in the locality and can reach you easily should you be in need of help. But please also remember that there is no "sag wagon" and that it is down to you to get from hotel to hotel... regardless of the weather!! Please note that all clients are obliged to have suitable travel insurance which must include cover for repatriation.

Q Why should I choose Randonnee-en-Dordogne?
A Unlike other international tour companies, our business is locally based. We specialise in the Périgord Noir region, where we ourselves live. The Périgord Noir is an area of outstanding natural beauty, which we know intimately. We can share accurate local knowledge with all our customers and it's also an area where we can find you easily if you need help in an emergency. We believe that our tours offer you choice, flexibility and freedom and are great value for money! We want you to have a holiday that will leave you wanting to come back for more. We want you to tell your family and friends what an unbelievable experience you've had - from contacting us with your initial enquiry, to waving us goodbye at the end of a wonderful holiday! We want you to live that dream...
